Detention Ministry
TBC Detention Ministry visits detention centers in Tokyo and its vicinity. We meet inmates and listen to their stories. We share the words of God in order to comfort them.
Our visiting targets are detention centers, not prisons in which criminals are imprisoned. To be precise, detention centers are not prisons. Those who have visa problems and prospective refugees are imprisoned in detention centers.
However, the housing environment in detention centers is very similar to that of prisons. Freedom of the inmates in detention centers is strictly limited and their imprisonment period is often very long. There are people who try to commit suicide because of fear and loneliness.
We meet them in visiting rooms on weekdays. We also give gifts such as daily necessities, Bible, and other books to them.
We also support those who are given provisional release status.
